Meet the Players

Alex Skinner - Goalkeeper
The CSKA number one joined the team after negotiations to have his podcast A Touchline Rant become the club sponsor. A long time friend of former player Mitch Gadd, Skinner has established himself as one of the finest men to don the gloves. If he isn't pulling off worldy saves then he's shouting at referees telling them he's got a routine to prepare for penalties!

Paul Jarvis - Goalkeeper/ Full Back
The Cornish keeper has been involved with the club for years and has had stints both in goal and outfield for the club. His involvement has been limited after becoming a father but he has still been able to contribute in training and help out as a stand-in keeper when needed. Hopefully, he'll be able to get involved more over the coming years and we'll never have to watch a stag do video of his again... ever!

Max Lapit - Full Back
The legendary cricketer Michael Holding had the nickname of "The Whispering Death". Lapit would take it to the next level of "The Silent Death". A man of few words, he lets his actions do the talking on and off the pitch. It seems an age ago since he first signed up along with Ed Lewis and Frazer Myatt-Bennett.

1 x Defender of the Year (2015/16)

Dec O'Neill - Full Back
One of the "Physio Trio" that also includes Owen Jones and Dom Billings, the Wigan-based Irishman has built a reputation for being one of the most complete full backs the club has had on its books. It's a shame that injuries have prevented him from playing more of a role in the league campaign.

Chris Lusted - Full Back/ Winger
It's hard to tell whether Lusted is better as a full back or wide midfielder such is the consistency of his performances. Having joined due to being a neighbour of striker Cai Mckenzie, Lusted has fitted into the team quickly and effectively.

Andy Palmer - Centre Back
The enigmatic centre back cuts an awkward figure on the pitch and even though he's had his moments of calamity he's also stood tall and fearless in the face of some of the most intimidating attacks in the league to help the club earn some key points during the season. It doesn't matter if he's lining up on a Sunday afternoon for a league game or dancing in Walkabout at 2am... if you hear the shout of "ANDY'S BALL!!!" then you get out of the way!

Owen Kingsbury - Centre Back
The man nicknamed "The King" (well, we had to with his surname didn't we!) has become an integral part of the CSKA back-line with his robust and ruthless defensive approach. There's a David Luiz in him just waiting to burst out but he's managed to keep his more flamboyant defensive style in check. Having joined through former Player of the Season Tom Frowen, Kingsbury has done well in his centre back role.

Owen Lewis - Centre Back/ Central Midfielder
Is he a centre back? Is he a central midfielder? Or is he just a playboy who has only joined the team in order to use it as an opening line with girls in the clubs around Cardiff and Blackwood? Who knows?! The Rhymney Valley native has fast earned a reputation for being a joker within the team who has been a solid addition to the playing squad this season since joining in the summer. He is also a dangerous element on the social side with his penchant for buying in rounds of straight tequila without any salt or lemon and putting on other men's clothes on nights out without those men even realising!

Jack Gibbs - Winger
Former CSKA central midfielder Louis Boston once labelled Gibbs as "Foot of Stone" due to his incredibly hard shot. On his day, nobody can match the winger for pace or power... or his moves on the dancefloor in dodgy nightclubs that are frequented by the more "experienced" members of the population!

Aiden Martin - Winger
The Exeter man had a huge impact on the club last season when he walked away with practically every award going. Injuries have prevented him from being able to reach those heights this season but he remains one of the classiest operators at the club. A man of few words, he certainly lets his football do the talking and that makes him a number one target for abuse with every opposition.

1 x Three Stars Leader (2018/19)

Tom Frowen - Central Midfielder
It took a few years for the club to acquire the signature of Frowen but it was well worth the wait. The Pontypridd resident has been a regular contender for three stars and end of season awards after joining as a friend of former CSKA players Rhys Griffiths and Matt Kennedy. The calm central midfielder has been key in the team's rise to the top flight and even though he dressed like Tim Westwood when he proposed to his fiance in Paris, he's earned the right to be forgiven for that indiscretion!

Rich Hamlett - Attacking Midfielder/ Striker
It seems an age ago that Hamlett was one of the youngest players in the squad. Years of squandering his hard-earned cash on parties, "stuff", and PSN subscription costs have ensured he's kept his standards low and remained with the club. Arguably, one of the club's greatest in terms of his goals and assists per game ratio he is still one of those players that can be a match winner.

1 x Brown Ale Moment of the Year (2017/18)

Sam Byrne - Central Midfielder
One half of the double signing of himself and striker Cai Mckenzie, Swansea-born Byrne has become a regular starter for CSKA. Some say he's like Joe Allen on the pitch and Joey Essex off it. Cultured, technically-gifted, and "Steve Day's nutmegging nemesis" are all terms that have been linked to Byrne.

Dan Clayton - Central Midfielder
It's the man that everybody loves to hate and the man who loves to hate everybody! Clayton's caustic and ruthless humour divides opinion but has also been the source for some of the funniest quips and jokes in the club's history. He might be just as likely to correct your spelling, punctuation, and grammar as he is to make you laugh but his experienced head and professional attitude makes tolerating him worthwhile. Has long shown his commitment to the club cause with selfless acts such as filling in as goalkeeper, winning the brown ale moment of the month award for getting headbutted in the face, and pouring Ed Rickaby's pasta meal all over the table "by accident" at the first ever end of season awards.

Arron Ackerman - Central Midfielder/ Winger
CSKA's unofficial FIFA rep hasn't had the amount of opportunity to show what he can do but has already proved the three rules of certainty which consist of 1) He will always harp on about how good Swansea are 2) He will always score or assist if he starts a league, cup, or friendly game and 3) He will always pick up an injury during a training session.

Owen Jones - Striker
The final member of the "Physio Trio" on this list is Jones. He's probably the most Welsh Englishman you'll ever meet. His robust attacking approach up front has seen him be a thorn in the sides of the opposition. His work prevents him from playing more which is a loss but thankfully it also prevents him from being involved in the social side of things... which means less of our players have died whilst out drinking with him!

Cai Mckenzie - Attacking Midfielder/ Striker
It's easy to forget how young the "Scottish Michael Owen" is. The Cardiff lad has strong Scottish heritage but that fortunately hasn't made him an awful striker. His scoring record for the club has been impressive for a player so young and his enthusiasm to work for the team ethic, including doing a shift in goal, has made him a popular player with his team mates. There's plenty more to come from this lad over the coming years.
