Intra-Squad Friendly Teams Confirmed

The team line-ups for the CSKA Sophia Gardens intra-squad friendly scheduled to kick-off at 12:30pm on Saturday 3rd July have been confirmed.

In what is set to be the club's first official training session/ game since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, two sides packed with current CSKA players and friends of the club will do battle at Pontcanna Fields.

Here are the line-ups for the two teams as things stands. This could be subject to slight change if other players become available before the game...

Blue/ Black Team: Steve Day, Dec O'Neill, Frazer Richards, Ceri Jones, Emanuel Constantin, Aiden Martin, Tom Frowen, Ed Lewis, James Joyce, Cai Mckenzie, and Louis Boston.

Red Team: Matt Wright, Chris Lusted, Huw Williams, Jordan Lloyd, Owen Lewis, Jack Gibbs, Arron Ackerman, Eifion Roberts, Sam Byrne, Rich Hamlett, Kris Dolby, and Jon McCarthy.

The player positions and formations will be decided on the day. Neither team has a designated goalkeeper so players will have to rotate that role during the game and it should make for a very entertaining 90 minutes.

CSKA Manager Steve Day said "This is a great chance for us to give as many minutes on the pitch to as many squad players as possible. It's been a long time since we played a competitive 11 a side game so this is a fantastic opportunity to see where all the players are in terms of fitness and sharpness.

Day added "Eagle-eyed readers will have seen that we have a few interesting names included in the squad lists. Louis Boston is hoping to make a return to the team after a long spell out injured. New signing Huw Williams will have his first involvement with the club. Former CSKA players Ceri Jones and Matty Wright will make appearances. There's also the likes of Frazer Richards, Emanuel Constantin, Eifion Roberts, and Kris Dolby who have played regularly with some of those in our squad. It's set to be a cracking game and we can't wait for it. Samo CSKA!"
